Unemployment is currently one of the biggest crisis faced by many young adult individuals in some African countries. Needed Friend assists by gathering CVs and creating candidate profiles, actively searching suitable vacancies and helping candidates prepare for interviews and employment by providing relevant interview preparation and training. Needed Friend team also assist homeless individuals without permanent addresses and appropriate clothing: providing an address to help facilitate communication with potential employers, and also providing appropriate attire for the recruitment process.

Promoting good health amongst children is a priority to Needed Friend. A big part of donations to Needed Friend go towards assisting with medical bills for children and young adults who are in need of assistance. According to WHO statistics, over 20% of deaths amongst young children are caused by common illnesses like pneumonia and other respiratory infections which can be easily treated with proper healthcare. Unfortunately, this basic healthcare is unaffordable to many families in deprived countries. Our mission is therefore to ensure as many individuals as possible have access to basic healthcare facilites and services. Over 2022, Needed Friend have assisted children with health complications ranging from respiratory illnessess like pneumonia, to more complex issues like ulcers. Our objective is to reach and assist even more children and adults over the coming years.

Approximately 3 million children under the age of 5 died in 2015 in deprived countries, with a further 150 million others suffering from stunting. A majority of these mortality and stunting cases in children under 5 were directly linked to easily avoidable malnutrition and undernutrition issues. An observation of a rapid increase in cases of obesity amongst children 5 and under is now recorded in some of these economically deprived countries. Our objective at Needed Friend is to ensure children have access to healthy food and water. Over 2022, we visited a total of 15 orphanages, providing food and assisting with utility bills. Our objective in 2023 is to launch multiple food banks and accessible clean water projects in less privileged areas, to improve nutrition standards and prevent millions of avoidable excess deaths amongst children and less privileged people.
